National Account Manager Managed Markets, Newport Beach, CA

Joined EMD Serono in January 2010

What made you join EMD Serono?
I was looking for the next opportunity in Pharma/Biotech after 20 years with another company. My experience there had been tremendous so I was very cautious about transitioning to a new organization. I truly was looking for a company to call “home” and was eager to start the next chapter of my career. The hiring process was quite robust and involved a significant number of interviews. It was clear that EMD Serono and the Managed Markets leadership team was committed to finding a candidate who was a good fit for the organization. Soon after I started at EMD Serono, I truly felt that I had found a new home with people who were welcoming, supportive and very capable in the world of biotech!

What are your current responsibilities?
As a National Account Manager within Managed Markets, I call on large national health plans and manage the EMD Serono relationship. I represent EMD Serono for all aspects of the business, and I feel as I serve as the “face” of EMD Serono. My major focus areas include contracts and negotiations for our products as well as collaborating with our therapeutic area’s team members to drive our products performance within the areas that I can impact. Within Managed Markets consistent, proactive, collaborative account management is critical with all targeted payers in the US marketplace. We take this responsibility very much to heart.

What do you enjoy most about your work?
The people at EMD Serono, both those within Managed Markets as well as the broader group, make this a great organization to work at. Our team has a philosophy to always support each other and to have a strong commitment to stay customer-focused while also being very good stewards to our business and EMD Serono as a whole.

What was your greatest success with EMD?
To be recognized for the SHINE Award within just a few years of joining the organization was very special. That was truly a team award as I would not have been able to achieve such an accomplishment without the Managed Markets teams collaboration and support.

The current Employer Branding campaign claims “MAKE GREAT THINGS HAPPEN”.

What does this mean for you?

To me, “MAKE GREAT THINGS HAPPEN” means focusing on impacting the business for the good of the organization while always keeping the patients and customers that we serve in mind.

There are two different, unaffiliated companies that use the name MERCK. Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, which operates this website, uses the firm name “Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany,” in the United States and Canada, and also uses “EMD Serono” in biopharma, “MilliporeSigma” in life science and “EMD Performance Materials” in materials business. The other company, Merck & Co., Inc. holds the rights in the trademark MERCK in the United States and Canada. Merck & Co. is not affiliated with or related to Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, which owns the MERCK trademark in all other countries of the world.   To reflect such fact and to avoid any confusion, certain logos, terms and business descriptions of the publications on this website have been substituted or modified, such as by referring to “Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany” instead of “Merck” standing alone.  Publications on this webpage, therefore, slightly deviate from the otherwise identical versions accessible outside the United States and Canada.
