"Success can only be sustained if it is achieved responsibly."

Letter from Karl-Ludwig Kley in the CR Report

Showing responsibility, building trust

For nearly 350 years, responsibility has been the heart of our entrepreneurial approach and is one of our six Merck Values. Our requirements for responsible governance are defined in both our Corporate Responsibility (CR) strategy as well as our Group-wide guidelines.
Merck's CR strategy is based on the company's Group strategy. Our entire range of CR activities can be summed up under the term "responsible governance", a concept that informs Merck's day-to-day actions. In addition to this, we have selected three strategic spheres of activity in which we particularly wish to engage. These aim to hone Merck's competitive edge while helping to sustainably secure the company's future.
