Tapping into the power of the sun

Solar cells utilized in totally new ways: affixed to curved surfaces or integrated into fabrics. Organic photovoltaics are opening up new methods for harvesting sunlight and generating power. At Expo 2015 in Milan, we debuted the large-scale use of our flexible solar cells, where they made their appearance as "solar trees".

Energy-saving liquid crystals

Small crystals - major savings: Our liquid crystal technology not only improves smartphone and tablet image quality, but also reduces their power consumption by 30%, significantly lengthening battery life.

Making old single-use products into something new

It's hard to recycle the plastic in our products, in part due to challenging material properties and stringent regulatory requirements. In the United States, we have found a solution to this issue: a program that allows 100% of our customers' product waste to be recycled.

Taking a holistic view of our products

We work non-stop to improve the sustainability footprint of our products while also helping our customers reach their own sustainability goals. Take for example our life science business sector’s Design for Sustainability program.

Enabling sustainability

We work non-stop to improve the sustainability footprint of our products while also helping our customers achieve their own sustainability goals. Through our Design for Sustainability (DfS) program, we identify potential issues by assessing the impacts of our Life Science products during the design process.  We furthermore develop innovative solutions that support our customers in their own sustainability efforts. Take for instance our liquid crystals, which lower the power consumption of smartphones and tablets, or flexible materials that open up new applications for photovoltaics.
