Your role: The purpose of this position is to supervise the Maintenance workforce for Saint Louis Operations. This covers multiple facilities in the area.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Supervise the Maintenance supervisors for the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Guide and direct work in area of responsibility.
  • Handle administrative duties for the Maintenance Department. Manage Change Control to the Computerized Maintenance Management System.
  • Liason between operations and maintenance
  • Evaluate equipment, spare parts, supplies, and service needs for area of responsibility.
  • Lead Process Improvement Efforts

Who you are:

Education: Bachelor Degree in engineering discipline preferred and MBA a plus.

Experience: Minimum of 7 years of related manufacturing or maintenance experience

Must be able to Supervise the Maintenance supervisors for the assigned area of responsibility. Must have the:

  1. Ability to set goals and monitor progress for each supervisor.
  2. Ability to set & manage performance metrics.
  3. Ability to have a development plan for each supervisor.
  4. Ability to communicate work priorities to supervisors as required.
  5. Ability to perform an annual performance review of each supervisor.
  6. Ability to interview and select successful candidates.

Must be able to guide and direct work in area of responsibility. Must be able to:

  1. Review supervisors backlogs and progress on backlog management. 
  2. Determine when manpower reassignment is required to support the work backlog.
  3. Assure that all supervisors handle their area of responsibility. 
  4. Be a change agent. Coach & implement improvement opportunities.
  5. Establish expectations and empower supervisors to do their job.
  6. Set goals and direction for the group and track progress versus these goals
  7. Implement & manage after hours emergency response lists & procedures.
  8. Ability to assume Incident Commander (IC) role during a significant issue such as utility outage.

 

 

Handle administrative duties for the Maintenance Department. Manage Change control for department CMMS system. Must be able to:

  1. Write and process HR requests for the department.
  2. Communicate company policy and procedures.
  3. Communicate and implement company Quality policies.
  4. Be responsible for safety and compliance activities for the department.
  5. Write and administer departmental standard operating procedures.
  6. Be responsible for OSHA Process Safety Management program. & other environmental compliance programs.
  7. Be responsible & manage Refrigeration compliance.
  8. Set direction & Manage Predictive Maintenance stratgeies.
  9. Manage & Direct Building Management System & Temperature Monitoring activities.
  10. Review and approve purchase requisitions. 
  11. Set and abide by Expense Budgets for buildings & equipment.
  12. Manage Utility expense. Set Budgets & achieve reduction results where applicable.
  13. Control and formulate Capital Budgets.
  14. Control CMMS data base access and procedures.
  15. Technically advise department owners and engineers on projects.
  16. Advise on process safety information and maintenance records.
  17. Participate in Audits, committees, and walk throughs where maintenance representation is required.

Act as the liaison between departments and maintenance. Must be able to:

  1. Work with internal customers on developing their maintenance needs.
  2. Assist with the development of PM and Calibration requirements. 
  3. Develop improvement plans with the customer & site directors.
  4. Assist in developing work priorities as required.
  5. Recommend spare parts based on Breakdown histories or risk.
  6. Review repair performance and make improvement suggestions.
  7. Arrange shutdown schedules and coordinate efforts to reduce costs.

Assist with evaluation of equipment, spare parts, supplies, and service needs for area of responsibility. Must be able to:

  1. Work with supervisors on supplies inventories and spare parts needs.
  2. Facilitate the negotiation of prices for services and supplies used.
  3. Analyze projects from a maintenance perspective.
  4. Review equipment advances which offer improved efficiency. 

Lead the Department Process Improvement Efforts. Must be able to:

  1. Assign, and monitor Process Improvement Projects.
  2. Facilitate and teach proper Process Improvement techniques. 
  3. Facilitate, develop, and improve on Department Process Improvement reporting.
  4. Develop Six Sigma Green & Black Belts within the organization

Additional local needs:

Must be able to walk, stand, reach above the shoulders, use a cellular phone, use feet to operate equipment, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk, hear, use hands to operate tools and equipment. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and additional weight with assistance. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee may be required to wear a hard hat, safety shoes, eye protection, hearing protection, a safety harness, protective clothing and gloves, respirator and face shield. Must have valid drivers license and requires operation of company vehicles. Must be able to work at varying heights.
