Your role: an exciting new opportunity has arisen to join Merck as Sales Manager. This role within the Merck’s Life Science Division for Spain and Portugal has to accomplish agreed sales targets and goals for the Academia segment. It is expected that these goals will be achieved through sound strategic planning and the recruitment and development of a motivated and well directed team. It will include working as a coach and to support the relevant BU’s Account Managers in negotiations, to develop & lead relationship with key customers and negotiations in order to build a culture of customer intimacy within the team. As a member of the management team it is expected that there will be significant input into planning activities and high level cooperation with the other elements of the sales segment in Europe. To highlight as essential job functions: drive field sales to exceed budgeted sales target.  Setting individual sales targets for each team member and to make clear what key accounts they support. Develop and document business plan to support the achievement of local targets and Corporate sales strategy. Hire, train, and motivate a team capable of achieving the relevant BU and corporate goals. Act as a mentor and coach to the field team in all aspects of the sales process, and  encourage the team to excel in customer centricity. Actively participate in customer visits with team members in order to gain market knowledge, to provide feedback and coaching, suggest new ways of working and helping to remove obstacles to closing the sale/complex accounts.



Who you are:

•         You have a Master Science Degree, preferably Chemistry or Biology.

•         You have minimum 3- 5 years of experience as Sales Manager leading local or regional team. Preferably previous experience in Life Science industry.

•         You have demonstrable experience of having introduced effective customer intimacy programs and evidence of growing business in innovative ways. Champion and expert user of IT and sales-related system.

•         You are fluent in English.

•         You have availabity to travel.
