Your role:

This role is a critical piece in Procurement’s people development strategy, enabling our Procurement employees to build capabilities to deliver value beyond financial contributions, and supporting our additional value drivers of Supply Security and Supplier Market Innovation. This position will substantially increase the competitiveness of Procurement at the Merck Group and establish an organization adaptable for the future. The position can be based in the US (Boston area) or Germany (Darmstadt). Reporting to the Global Director of Procurement Compliance, Collaboration & Capability Management, you will develop and manage programs for Procurement which increase our capabilities and enable enhanced value creation for our stakeholders. The role will develop and deploy projects/programs based on strategic direction from senior management. Key elements for success in this role are excellent communication and project management skills, strong orientation towards Learning and Development topics, and use knowledge of current industry methods. Additionally, you need a strong technology orientation and drive for technological solutions and ability to organize and collaborate across projects and functional areas.

 

Who you are:

  • University degree in management, education or relevant field
  • Multiple years (7+) of work experience in adult education, instructional design, or other related fields; procurement knowledge preferred but not required
  • Experience in managing direct reports or influencing teams in a global role
  • Track record of success with implementing complex projects and navigating matrixed environments; strategic thinker with innovative and agile mindset
  • Willing to travel 10-20%
  • Fluent in English
