Job Title: SPECIALIST ACCOUNTING

Around 40,000 employees in 66 countries work to further develop technologies that improve and enhance life-from biopharmaceutical therapies to treat cancer or multiple sclerosis, cutting-edge systems for scientific research and production, to liquid crystals for smartphones and LCD televisions.

Your role:

Participates in the monthly/yearly closing reporting process, in accordance to the Merck Reporting requirements. Ensure the accuracy of monthly, quarterly and year end close.

Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information.

Responsible for the execution of a broad range of sometimes complex tasks within established guidelines, standard operating procedures and defined processes and helps determine the appropriate approach for new assignments.

Applies technical expertise in the analysis of factual information, brings a broader perspective to problems and adapts solutions, anticipates patterns and links; looks beyond the immediate problem to the wider implications.

Shows business acumen beyond the team and understands how the team integrates with other teams and how they complement and support each other in order to achieve the shared objectives of the area.

Supports the preparation of the Annual Fiscal Report and the preparation of supporting statistical schedules.

Files reports necessary to comply with local legislation and Corporate regulations.

Reviews the accounting system. Ensures the accuracy of data and adherence of the system to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Proposes internal procedures with related forms regarding most common internal processes flows and updates current operating procedures

Who you are:

  • Owner of university degree, being Economist would be considered as an additional asset.
  • You have at least 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry as an accountant.
