Key products of the Semiconductor Solutions business unit of Performance Materials are lithography materials, spin-on-dielectric materials, silica particles for CMP slurries, process materials like developers and removers, deposition materials, and conductive paste. The R&D sites and production sites are located globally, and key R&D sites are located at United States (NJ, MA, CA, WI), Japan (Shizuoka), France (Trosly-Breuil), and Germany (Darmstadt). Now, a new R&D facility at Charlotte (NC) is under construction.
Your role: Management of two R&D teams developing silica particles at the R&D sites in France and Charlotte. People and team development, R&D project management, and customer communication are the main responsibilities of this position.
Who you are:
Education Level and Languages Required
University degree in science or engineering is required. A Ph.D degree in chemistry, physics, or chemical engineering is preferred.
Good fluency of English is required, and business conversation capability in French is preferred.
Professional Skills, Qualifications and Experience
10 years or more working experience in any industry, with experience specifically in colloidal silica or silica nanoparticles preferred. Experience in an IC materials related industry, especially the CMP slurry related industry, is preferred.
5 years or more R&D management experience is necessary. Experience with multi-cultured (mixed-nationality) team management is preferred. Experience of leading several teams at once is preferred.
Good skillset of people and team development, project management, solving problems and issues, communication, and collaboration with different functions are necessary.
Frequent oversea travel, up to 7-10 times a year (mostly to France and Germany,) frequent domestic travels, up to 10-15 times per year (mostly to Delaware) is anticipated. Both include internal and external (mostly customer) visits for meetings and conferences. Overall anticipated travel will be 30 – 40%.
Potential long stay (up to 6 months) in France at the beginning for team building, understanding the people and priorities is likely.

Leading the projects in the R&D teams to meet the business targets.
Maintain and improve safety of working environment at the sites.
R&D expense management of your own and the R&D teams.
Cross-functional contribution to the strategies and execution of patent generation, quality control, procurement, manufacturing, business, customer relationship, and technology scouting.
CAPEX planning, execution, and budgeting.
