Your Role: As the Associate Corporate Counsel, you will provide legal support to EMD Performance Materials(“EMD”) , a subsidiary of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany. You will assist EMD’s General Counsel in addressing matters pertaining to Performance Materials sites and businesses in the U.S., with a major focus on the reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements relating to sales, supply, and a variety of R&D-related agreements. Particular focus will be on material evaluation and vendor agreements.
Who you are: This role is seeking someone that is team player - able to successfully collaborate with business partners, other members of the Legal team in the U.S. and abroad, and other support teams across the global organization at all levels. You must have knowledge of common and commercial law principles. You need to have strong interpersonal skills, the ability to adapt to changing priorities and multi-task, have strong negotiation and communication skills, and be detail oriented.
- Law degree (J.D.) or equivalent with a strong law school academic record
- In good standing with a state bar
- At least 3-5 years’ professional experience at a large law firm and/or with an in-house legal department of a multinational corporation.
- Experience with commercial transactions, supporting global organizations, and previous cross-cultural exposure preferred.
- Experience supporting R&D matters a plus.
