Functional Tasks

EHS Manager and Operations Manager at Atsugi for Biopharma 

Managerial Tasks

  1. Implementation of Biopharma EHS policy at Atsugi Pharma Operatons (in collaboration with global and local EHS teams) according to global guideline
  2. EHS SOP maintenance
  3. Assure legal EHS compliance
  4. Monitor, set actions to achieve Atsugi plant's performance goals, KPIs and objectives
  5. Operations management: visual inspection, secondary packaging and warehousing operations based on close collaboration with commercial SNO for Demand and Supply Planning, Distribution
  6. GMP SOPs and records
  7. GMP and compliance trainings
  8.  New product launches and transfers
  9. Quality standards in operations and continuous improvement program
  10. Employee engagement and trainings 
  11. Budget responsibility
  12. Quality Management in collaboration with Atsugi and Tokyo Quality team

MAIN INTERFACES (in alphabetical order)

Interfaces with other Departments/Functions:

  • Domestic: Commercial SNO, Quality Japan, Finance, RA, BU, Atsugi site cross divisional management, local Merck team
  • Overseas: Global and APAC SNO / GMS organisation

External Interfaces:

  • Domestic: Contracted vendors


  1. Bachelor degree or above, major in Engineering/Science/Pharmacology/ Supply Chain or other relevant majors. Master degree is preferred.
  2. Proven track record for EHS management
  3. Min 10 years of experience in medical, medical device or pharmaceutical operations within multi-national company. Experience of GMP site operations preferred 
  4. Supply Chain knowledge including Demand and Supply Planning, Distribution
  5. Min 5 years of experience as team leader (more than 5 FTE)
  6. Native in Japanese and fluent in English
  7. Global team experience 
  8. Project lead/management experience
