Job Title: Technology Manager

Your role:

 

The role of “Technology Manager” is responsible for the implementation of national and/or segment marketing strategies for projects and/or products defined in the global marketing plans. Furthermore work with the local sales teams, the appropriate Account Manager in pursuing new business opportunities, focusing on strategic accounts, large business opportunities and complex solutions with product launches and seeding activities. Drive business strategies into the field and fulfill a field-focused role that is close to the customers, regional markets and local needs with in depth expertise and knowledge on the respective segment of applications. Furthermore, “Technology Manager” is responsible for continuously monitoring markets/customers, competitors, products and applications and identifying fields for innovation, innovative applications and products in cooperation with the sales teams and Global Marketing.

 

Who you are

  • Break down the global strategies to local marketing plans, tactics and actions. Execute regional/local product or solution positioning content.
  • Drive and track development of regional and local growth potential.
  • Recommend quick wins & cross-selling opportunities to the Regional Account Managers, Strategy Account Managers, and any other customer facing personnel.
  • Perform customer visits together with Account Managers, Strategy Account Managers.
  • In coordination with global marketing, develop, implement, support execution and monitor the annual seeding program.
  • Coordinate & monitor the service effectiveness provided to the customers and to the field organization.
  • Monitor and report on competitive activity and prepare plans for sales organization to counter-attack.
  • Ensure successful introduction of new products/programs by organizing alpha and beta testing, fine tuning the product concept, defining product positioning and the selling strategy.
  • Use technical expertise to ensure optimal use of Process Solutions technologies in its regulatory environment by identifying customers’ needs and potentials.
  • Ensure the effective communication between customers, sales force and marketing for all sales activities concerning products, application and services (utilizing all Merck communication tools). Specific attention will be paid to provide feedback to divisional Marketing on new opportunities in China.
  • Be the active local input channel to the global marketing for the creation of future annual marketing plans
  • Identify fields for innovation and demonstrate potential for new markets, new products and new applications and coordinate access to relevant key contact partners at the customer side.
  • Lead and participate to the technical training program of the sales force in order to reach and maintain the required level of knowledge of products, application and services.
  • Participate to the Geographical Sales Support activities by developing mailers, giving lectures at exhibition, trade shows and at professional users groups (i.e. ISPE, PDA, ICH, etc.)
  • Develop a strong network with our different local sales teams and the appropriate Strategy Account Managers and Global Marketing.

     

    Qualifications

    Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

     

  • High Graduate degree in Biotechnology, Biochemist Pharmacy, Pharmaceutics or Chemistry
  • Comprehensive knowledge on Chinese pharmaceutical industry
  • Ability to work with hands-on approach and strategic thinking
  • Minimum of 3 years of working experience in marketing and/or technical support function within downstream processing technology is an advantage
  • Minimum of 3 years of working experience in production area focusing on downstream processing in (bio)pharmaceutical company or CRO/CMO is a plus
  • Minimum of 3 years successful experience in Sales and/or Customer Technical support within the (bio)pharmaceutical industry is a plus
  • Knowledge of regulatory bodies (CFDA) and guidelines on bioprocessing technology
  • Market and financial analysis skills are essential
  • Willingness to travel around 30~50% of your working days
  • Fluent in Chinese, English.
  • Computer proficient in Windows based software package including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Strong interpersonal skill and cross-cultural communication skill
  • Established presentation skill, both in Chinese & in English
