The Neurology and Immunology (N&I) Global Market Access and Pricing (MAP) team is a diverse and dedicated group of leaders and experts, integral to the Neurology and Immunology development and commercial organization in shaping and delivering innovation that matters most to patients living with chronic conditions.
Your Role:
The Access Development Lead is a principal strategic position on the global N&I MAP team responsible for the creation, maintenance, and implementation of the framework for the incorporation of payer insights into commercialization strategies for N&I assets in clinical development. The individual in this role is accountable for building and assessing the clinical and economic value demonstration components for each program, projecting and optimizing the access and pricing position. This individual is fully integrated into both commercial and clinical development workstreams, contributing critical payer and policy insights throughout development, with a focus on formal decision points. The individual in this role is expected to be a leader across both the commercial and research and development (R&D) organizations, bringing an increased understanding of market access and pricing strategies, opportunities, and barriers to the organization.
Key Accountabilities
- Creates and maintains the payer interaction and insight framework
- Builds the formal process by which payer insights are gathered at specific points in the clinical development timeline
- Aligns the framework with the integrated development plan (IDP) and with key stakeholders within R&D, commercial, and global evidence and value demonstration (EVD)
- Identifies and makes recommendations to fill evidence gaps
- Gathers appropriate insights from payers and payer influencers according to the specific commercialization opportunities for a given asset, including early health authority and health technology assessment (HTA) advice
- Implements and drives adoption of the framework
- Iterates and maintains the framework based on best practice
- Incorporates access development strategies into the IDP along with critical activities and tactics
- Assesses and informs clinical trial designs, endpoint selection, and patient populations according to payer requirements
- Collaborates and aligns the access and value components with EVD to establish one view of the environment and required development activities to secure and optimize access
- Obtains appropriate budget to fund required activities; using both commercial and EVD resources
- Develops and implements the global MAP strategy ensuring cross-functional alignment
- Authors, aligns, and approves the target product and value profile (TPVP)
- Develops initial value proposition
- Uses insights, precedents, and analogues to assess and define commercial value of individual assets
- Analyzes appropriate comparators and competitive entrants to create a pricing hypothesis by region
- Establishes price and price evolution according to scenario assumptions
- Aligns revenue forecasts with new product planning (NPP)
- Informs commercial footprint and launch sequence strategy to preserve value
- Authors access development sections of annual N&I strategic plans
- Works collaboratively and cross functionally to influence team consensus and recommendations across both commercial and R&D
- Contributes to the global product team (GPT) deliverables through core membership
- Drives value and access strategy team (VAST) agendas, initiatives, and proposals in partnership with EVD
- Represents MAP perspective at relevant N&I leadership and brand-focused fora
- Provides MAP perspective in business development and commercial partnerships for pipeline assets across the N&I franchise
- Provides pricing analysis and recommendation for forecasting and NPV evaluations
- Contributes to analysis and commercial evaluation for business development opportunities
- Prepares strategies and deliverables for partnership discussions of portfolio assets
- Manages day to day MAP aspects of alliance management for partnered assets
Who You Are:
Strategic thinker who can work collaboratively to synthesize insights to formulate hypotheses about the future market access environment and what it will take to secure access and optimize revenue
Has experience in developing and implementing market access and pricing strategies
Can assess and translate clinical development activities into commercial opportunities and barriers
Understands global payer/HTA environment and key access and pricing levers; can create access scenarios based on differing evidence packages
Understands how to optimize access and pricing through evidence generation
Influences without authority, champions position, builds consensus
Preferred experience:
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in science, pharmacy, medicine, economics, business, public health, or health economics
