Your Role:

The Controller, Canada is a key business partner, fully supporting the Managing Director of EMD Inc. Canada by providing appropriate strategic and operational financial information as well as business insights. As a member of the Canadian Leadership Team, you will be responsible for preparing regional quarterly business reviews for Regional and/or global Executive Committee and presenting quarterly and forecasted performance in partnership with the Managing Director. You will make proactive recommendations on business strategy opportunities and areas for improvement, including developing business models, performing financial and business analyses, and follow-up on new opportunities and acquisitions, including alliances and partnerships. You will also manage commercial performance as an LT member and highlight financial risks and opportunities to the management team.

As the Controller, you will understand business and market dynamics and proactively to ensure key stakeholders understand financial outcomes and have a proactive partnership with key stakeholders to ensure optimized use of financial resources in alignment with strategy to maximize profitability and sustainability. You will have oversight of all areas of divisional financial support on a local level, including but not limited to financial reporting and forecasting, business analysis, risk reporting, and more, as well as oversight and responsibility for accurate forecasts (OP, F1, F3, F3, LBE, SD). You will have oversight and responsibility for, along with the team, preparing accurate periodic reporting (Closing & LBE activity, P&L analyses, Business performance KPI’s), as well as analyzing and explaining Gross and Net Sales and variances, and Volume and Price and variances with market and competition analysis when applicable. You will ensure internal controls and compliance are enforced, with strong collaboration with FO organization.

Who You Are: You have a Bachelor’s or higher, Master’s degree preferred with a degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or Economics preferred. You will have 5+ working years in finance, preferably in Controlling or Strategic Planning. You will have pervious success in cross functional leadership as part of a senior leadership team, and a successful relationship with regional and/or global in liaison roles. You have demonstrated strong leadership skills and ability to address critical and challenging situations as well as strategic thinking as a business partner, translating business conversations into financials, and translating complex information into comprehensible and actionable insights. You have experience with both project and change management and have the ability to work effectively under very tight deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously. You have excellent analytical skills and the ability to make recommendations to teams and senior management and have basic accounting knowledge. You also have knowledge of software including Microsoft Office (especially Excel), SAP and Planning tools (GAUSS, TM1, Tableau, etc.).
