A career at our company is an ongoing journey of discovery: our around 52,000 people are shaping how the world lives, works and plays through next generation advancements in healthcare, life science and performance materials. For more than 350 years and across the world we have passionately pursued our curiosity to find novel and vibrant ways of enhancing the lives of others.

External Supply Operations (ESO) is representing Biopharma’s external production network and manages Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs) that provide services to Global Healthcare Operations (GHO).  ESO aims to ensure the reliability of product supply and quality of our products to ensure value is added to the business.

In your role of Operations and Performance Manager (all genders) you will support the Virtual Plant Teams (VPT) that exist in GHO to provide on the spot guidance and consultancy advice to the CMOs, acting as our technical expert when issues arise. This support may be face to face, so travelling in the network is expected or working remotely involving internal and external stakeholders. Therefore, good communication skills are vital. Leading cross-functional teams to problem solve issues will also be a key part of this role.
In general performance with the CMO network this role will involve performing health checks on operational processes and verifying capacity at the CMOs to ensure forecast demands in the long term are aligned.  As part of this health check you may suggest improvement activities that provide benefit to us and the CMO. Risk management to help support the development of mitigation plans will be required in this role and this will lead into business continuity planning with the VPT for the major, strategic CMO’s.

Who you are:

  • Graduate degree in engineering, pharmaceutical sciences or equivalent and working experience in pharmaceutical environment for at least 5 years
  • Project Management and Operational Excellence experience
  • Several years' experience in the Pharma industry ideally with pharma manufacturing and packaging experience across technologies such as OSD, liquids, semisolids and sterile production
