Your role:

Reporting to the Associate Director Sourcing Biologics for direct materials within MilliporeSigma’s Life Science Procurement organization, you will execute complex sourcing strategies for inventoried direct materials. You will also partner with Manufacturing, Production, Quality, Marketing / Product Management and Technical R&D colleagues to identify supply chain opportunities in these product areas.  In this role, you will be expected to develop strong relationships with key stakeholders within the organization and to execute sourcing strategies to drive value and impact bottom-line profitability at MilliporeSigma. A successful candidate will be able to provide concrete examples of experience working in one or more of the following areas:

  • Biologics and biologically active materials, including but not limited to:
  • Bioactive small molecules (enzyme inhibitors, cell function regulators, etc.) 
  • Structurally complicated compounds used as advanced intermediates for internal production 
  • Peptides
  • Biocides (venoms, antibiotics, toxins, etc.)
  • Participates in highly strategic global, cross-functional Sourcing Teams championing the strategic sourcing process within the organization
  • Continually identifies and implements new opportunities for Cost Savings and Cost Avoidance and proactively tracks progress toward these objectives
  • Manages the sourcing process, including the RFI/RFP process and participation in make-buy conversion decisions and supplier selection process on a global basis
  • Supports the development and execution of negotiation strategies with suppliers, including specific targets for pricing, service, quality, and inventory
  • Manages supplier relationships, ensuring compliance with and performance of contract terms
  • Conduct spend and market trend analysis to develops global strategies generate defined plans for cost savings, risk assessment and mitigation, and sustainable sourcing strategies


Who you are:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science field preferably in life/pharmaceutical science (Chemistry, Biology, etc.)
  • 3+ years professional experience in one or more of following roles in the life science or pharmaceutical industry
  • 3+ years professional experience/working knowledge of SAP (or other ERP systems)


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree and/or Master of Business Administration preferred
    3+ years professional experience in strategic sourcing, supply chain management, technical services, or product management preferred
  • Experience in manufacturing settings in regulated industries
  • Experience in a global, matrixed, and multicultural organization with experience in and exposure to advanced sourcing strategies
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills to manage and resolve highly complex business issues
  • Results driven with demonstrated high performance in a fast-paced, goal-oriented, and time-sensitive environment
  • Strong relationship building skills and influencing/motivating skills with key Stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
