The Distribution Associate will interact with the WMS, TMS, RF scanning and/or other warehouse equipment to perform distribution tasks in accordance with defined job processes. This core role will encompass tasks with a focus on safety, quality and productivity. The DC Ops Associate must comprehend and demonstrate compliance with Standard Operating Procedures and work instructions. All Associates should be able to work under the DC leadership direction, completing work with limited degree of supervision. They are accountable for the quality of their own work; provide solutions to problems based on best practices and existing procedures; can use discretion to modify work practices and processes to achieve results or improve efficiencies in their respective work environment.
An existing new opportunity has arisen to join our company as a Visalia Distribution Operations Associate. You will work and partner with key functional areas including Planning, Finance, Customer Service, & Manufacturing.
Duties will include and be assigned as follows: you may load and unload freight, operate required equipment to produce documents for workload, locate, move, deliver or return all required materials to proper areas. Additional functions of this role are to prepare materials for shipment, accurately document all movement of materials, audit inventory locations to maintain inventory and location accuracy, follow procedures to complete full location audits, verify chemicals, catalog number, lot number, special requests information, unit size and weights against order documentation found in packing instructions, prints and apply all required labels and markings to box to comply with hazardous materials regulations, condense, straighten and maintains warehouse areas
Responsibilities will also include report unsafe or potentially unsafe hazards to team leads or any member of management. You may also be required to use a powered pallet jack and manual material handling equipment, receive material from outside vendors, pack hazardous items for shipment to customer, scan or meters product into the shipping system as well as pack the material, following established procedures and instructions while complying with hazard regulations. You will prepare materials for shipment, verify that all the appropriate markings and labels are present all packages to comply with company procedures and DOT, IATA, and IMO regulations, making corrections when necessary. Performing physical inventory and cycle count activities as well as investigate and resolves stock keeping errors or other discrepancies as well as processes work orders and material requests for staging and stocking according to pre-assigned schedule will also be responsibilities of this role.
You must have the ability to effectively communicate in a professional manner with all levels of staff both orally and written as well as to read, hear, speak and comprehend English language and work assignments
This role will require you to work independently and/or in a group collaborative setting. You will operate PCs, scanners, printers, CRTs, shipping equipment (meters, tape machines, etc) and various cutting instruments.
Miscellaneous duties, projects and tasks as assigned
You must demonstrate attention to detail, understand basic shipping regulations work quickly and adjust to changing priorities in a fast-pace environment as well as follow directions with a focus on Safety & Quality
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to sit, stand, walk, reach above the shoulder, stoop, kneel, twist, and crouch, and be able to stay on your feet for eight hours. The employee must be able to talk, hear, and smell. The employee must be able lift and/or move up to 75 pounds unassisted. Employee may be required to move more than 75 pounds with assistance. Specific vision requirements of this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Work in cold room environments. Regularly uses phones, computers, computer monitors and all office equipment. The employee is also required to type at a computer keyboard and have the ability to read CRTs/computer monitors.
Environmental Conditions of this role are working near moving mechanical parts (Conveyors, powered industrial vehicles). Required to wear appropriate protective equipment including gloves and safety glasses. Working conditions of this role will include both controlled and non-controlled climate environments.
Who You Are
- High school graduate or GED required
- 2+ years’ experience in warehouse operations and working within an ERP (such as Oracle, SAP, ect.)
- 1+ years’ experience working in Microsoft Office
- Certifications: Forklift or Dangerous Goods Shipping certification or may be required. (Can be obtained during employment)
- 2+ years’ experience Warehouse shipping methods and procedures
- Inventory cycle count experience preferred
- Experience with equipment and tools utilized in shipping, receiving and warehousing operations including but not limited to forklift, stacker, pallet jacks, hand truck, postage meter machines preferred
- Communication, orally and in writing must be at a sufficient level to perform all job duties. Able to perform basic math functions accurately
