Your Role:

The R&D Formulation Scientist (Bioprinting) will be responsible for the development of innovative bioink and related products for 3D Bioprinting, gaining an understanding of customer needs and developing new product portfolio to meet those needs. Using scientific knowhow, the Formulation Scientist will strategically identify 3D Biofabrication technologies that drive competitive edge. He/she will also be responsible for formulating bioinks, optimizing and characterizing their physicochemical, mechanical and biological properties.


The Formulation Scientist will work closely with 3D Printing Materials Synthesis R&D team, Product Management team, QC team and external collaborators to develop formulation process, product characterization, scale-up and technology transfer processes. He/she will also be responsible for maintaining accurate and complete lab data notebooks, analyze and interpret data, record and report results in accordance with lab procedures and systems. 


Who You Are:

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Material Sciences, Biomedical Engineering or related Scientific discipline with 3+ years of formulation experience in 3D Bioprinting with a record of patents and publications or a Master’s degree in Chemistry, Material Sciences, Biomedical Engineering or related Scientific discipline.


Preferred qualifications: 

  • PhD in Chemistry, Material Sciences, Biomedical Engineering or a related field 
  • Demonstrated 2+ years of formulation experience in 3D Bioprinting with a record of patents and publications
  • Experience in Biotech/Pharmaceutical industry is highly desirable  
  • Proficiency in optimization of bioink formulations and polymer-based scaffold filaments for 3D Bioprinting. Familiarity with using multiple 3D printer types is required. 
  • Experience with mechanical, physicochemical and structural characterization of bio-printing materials including viscoelasticity, thermo & dynamic mechanical, and morphological testing, and biological characterization of in vitro 3D tissue models including biochemical and IHC assays, imaging techniques, microscopy etc. 
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to write technical reports summarize data and make effective presentations. 
  • Must be self-motivated, have strong interpersonal skills, team player and able to work with cross-functional teams.
