 Job title: External Communications Manager

 Role description: Shaping and driving our brand's awareness and reputation footprint in Australia & New Zealand and execution of global external communication & selected brand strategies to drive and enable the business.

 Job requirements:

  • Develop strategy and content, lead & manage Healthcare external communications primarily in Australia, with the possible opportunities to further expand presence in New Zealand
  • Develop and manage Australia Merck / ANZ website
  • Implementation of Merck’s external comms strategy
  • Support the Business (HC) with considered counsel on reputation-related matters
  • In full collaboration with the Business Unit Heads and/or Medical Leadership, develop, execute and oversee the implementation of external communication strategies and drive priority product communications as required by the business
  • Drive reputation as well as acceptance of priority products and mitigate risk by nurturing strong relationships with key external stakeholders in media (including HC social media), patient advocacy groups, research institutions, general public.
  • Social media monitoring/analytics/paid campaigns
  • Maintain a favourable reputation of the company by proactive communication, issues management and drive crisis planning and management for HC (working closely with LS)
  • Manage and coach media spokespersons (includes training, content provision)
  • Act as the lead point of contact for patient advocacy organisations in full collaboration with the Business Unit Heads
  • Working with Corporate comms & events specialist, serve as the country liaison with Global and Regional Communications, translate internal messages to external and/or how external messages can be leveraged internally
