Your Role:

As Head of Capital Investment Sourcing Americas as well as the Global Category Lead for Infrastructure Equipment Sourcing, you will be responsible for establishing category strategies and managing portfolios of spend in a matrixed environment. The role holder together with her/his team is responsible for leading sourcing initiatives with functional business partners for the company’s three distinct business sectors within the Americas region, primarily managing sites in the USA but also providing expertise and support to sites in Mexico, Brazil and Canada. As a key link between internal stakeholder groups and external suppliers, the role holder is accountable for understanding key business drivers and ensuring that value to the business is being maximized. You will develop integrated strategies, standard operating procedures, sustainable cost improvement processes, and transparent spend reporting. You should be experienced in extensive cross-functional collaboration and use of strategic sourcing best practices to maximize value in terms of cost savings/avoidance, demand management, risk reduction, quality and supplier performance. The role holder conducts internal and external spend and market analyses, identifies opportunities, develops category strategies, leads sourcing teams, conducts tenders, negotiates contracts and manages key supplier relationships. The role holder is an energetic, stress resistant, flexible team player capable of forming strong relationships throughout the entire organization, in addition to successfully leveraging resources, processes and tools to achieve desired outcomes. As the Region Americas lead, the scope includes sourcing of all construction and installation as well as all lab, infrastructure, and production equipment needs.  As the Global lead for Infrastructure equipment, the scope includes all power generation, cooling water, and clean utility equipment as well as warehouse equipment for any site in the company’s global footprint. Given the decentralized nature of our stakeholder landscape, it is critical that the CAPEX sourcing team deliberately focuses on connecting stakeholders and their requirements, fostering a collaborative network and driving value across sites. The role holder is member of the corporate Capital Investment Sourcing leadership team and strongly collaborates with the other leadership team members in Europe as well as every Capital Investment Sourcing manager worldwide. The role, located in St. Louis, MO, reports to the Global Head of Capital Investment Sourcing, located in Darmstadt, Germany. You will manage two direct reports, approximately three external temporary sourcing staff members as well as two dotted-line (Brazil & Mexico) reports. For the global responsibility you will advise and coordinate people globally where needed. 

 

Who you are: Minimum requirements; BS degree, 8 years of experience in strategic sourcing/category management within difficult stakeholder landscapes, conducting cross-functional sourcing projects and negotiating contracts in CAPEX and/or related areas of Indirect Spend. High proficiency in coordination, delegation and prioritization. Skills in conflict resolution and negotiation. Excellent communicator, politically persuasive, demonstrated skills in collaboration. Strategy development experience in complex landscapes.  Proven ability to manage change, ability to work across boundaries and borders, and strong decision making. Broad knowledge of strategic sourcing processes, this knowledge should include, but is not limited to: Lead strategic sourcing initiatives with business partners for specific functional areas. Ensure implementation of sourcing strategies in a coordinated way across all sites in the US, Canada, Mexico and Brazil as well as globally for infrastructure equipment sourcing category. Gather and analyze spend in related areas within your region as well as category and derive sourcing strategies and initiatives. Build and manage internal stakeholder relationships and satisfaction for critical categories, understanding business requirements as input into enterprise-wide sourcing efforts. Project management skills to optimize Sourcing landscape, effectiveness and efficiency as well as being active on CAPEX projects. This includes triaging, coordinating/assigning projects, completing administrative tasks, tenders, negotiations and ensuring compliance in a complex business landscape. Availability to domestically and internationally travel at around 10-20%.

 

Preferred requirements; Masters degreed preferred, more than 10 years of experience in strategic sourcing/category management within difficult stakeholder landscapes, conducting cross-functional sourcing projects and negotiating contracts in CAPEX and/or related areas of Indirect Spend. High proficiency in coordination, delegation and prioritization. Skills in conflict resolution and negotiation. Excellent communicator, politically persuasive, demonstrated skills in collaboration. Strategy development experience in complex landscapes.  Proven ability to manage change, ability to work across boundaries and borders, and strong decision making. Broad knowledge of strategic sourcing processes, this knowledge should include, but is not limited to: Lead strategic sourcing initiatives with business partners for specific functional areas. Intercultural experiences due to heavy interactions across AMERICAS and Europe, partly also APAC. Availability to domestically and Internationally travel at around 10-20%.
