Your role:

The Field Technology Manager (FTM) is a key scientific resource for Process Service Solution (PSS) responsible for providing scientific and technical thought leadership in line with regulatory expectation to the BioReliance biotesting customers located in the Asia Pacific region. Working with the clients and commercial teams, FTM will lead discussion of testing options, provide regulatory advice, and input into technical design of custom assays.


Current opening is for a new FTM team member to focus on clients developing Cell and Gene Therapy (CGT) treatments. BioReliance has an exceptionally strong expertise in helping CGT clients develop regulatory compliant testing strategies.  To help establish this offer in Asia Pacific, the new team member will initially focus on assessing the regional CGT testing market and will help develop the BioReliance CGT testing capabilities in the region.



Profile the APAC CGT biosafety testing market and competitive environment, providing insights to support strategic decision-making by the senior leadership of the BioReliance business.  This will include sizing of the CGT testing business in China and several other Asian sub-regions, while also assessing technical and regulatory requirements for the business.

Gather market and customer level data to help establish relevant BioReliance testing capabilities in the APAC region.  Collaborate internally to ensure market, technical and competitive intelligence is shared with appropriate groups and individuals.

Act as the technical expert in Biosafety Testing for the BioReliance Asia Pacific customers with good knowledge of Cell & Gene Therapy (CGT) development, providing scientific and technical thought leadership directly to the client.  

Support to Sales and Operations for major customer acquisitions by providing scientific and regulatory support, generate proposals or review of quotations to win new orders.  Own the scientific and regulatory relationship with high value clients.

Understand regulatory direction for different agencies within AP region (KFDA, NMPA, MLHW) and ensure knowledge and understanding of global regulatory needs.

Monitor industry trends to ensure that BioReliance services remain at the forefront of scientific advancements in the field of Biologics; review and recommend potential technical developments to wider business.

Interact proactively and productively with colleagues within the global commercial team and where appropriate senior leadership team. 

Work with project management and operations teams in Asia as well as UK/US laboratories to help resolve technical testing issues while keeping customer-first perspective and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.

Act as scientific thought leader for the BioReliance business in the wider Asia Pacific region.  Collaborate with Global marketing and the wider Process Solutions teams to elevate BioReliance position as the scientific and regulatory testing leader.

May perform other related duties as required and / or assigned.

Complies with company health and safety regulations and procedures.


Who you are:


  • Ph.D. in Life Sciences relevant scientific field or equivalent experience


  • At least 5 years of relevant experience, ideally balanced in biologics development and/or manufacturing, field marketing, technical support or consultant.
  • Relevant industry experience in a pharmaceutical, biologics and/ or manufacturing processing is required. Experience within a regulated environment and ability to interact effectively with regulatory agencies at conference or in direct client meetings.
  • Strong interpersonal experience with a demonstrated ability to lead and influence teams and individuals is required
  • Strong negotiating skills required. As “voice of the expert”, provide effective communication and working relationships with customers.

 Knowledge and Skills:

Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills in both English and Chinese.  Knoeledge of additional Asia Pacific languages (e.g. Korean or Japanese) would be a plus.

Demonstrated strong client facing skills

Willingness to work on weekends, and off hours as may be required to engage with clients and operations teams located in the UK and US
