The Cell Therapy Processing team is developing novel technologies to enable manufacturing of cell and gene therapy processes. The technologies comprise patented acousto-fluidics platforms for cell processing, such as concentration, washing, media exchange, and labeled and label-free cell selection. This work has resulted in the launch of ekkoTM, an automated cell processing platform with single use cartridges for cell and gene therapy manufacturing.
You will be working in the life sciences group focusing on the development of the acoustic concentrate wash and acoustic affinity cell selection platform. You will work on all aspects of the early stages of new product development, i.e., brainstorming, concept selection, engineering design and analysis, prototype assembly, testing and documentation. You will perform acoustic concentrate wash and acoustic affinity cell selection experiments and participate in design of experiments. You will take on SOP writing and lab management duties as needed to enable the team to maintain a fast and steady flow of experiments. You will develop into an independent thinker, innovator and contributor to the development of the acoustic cell processing platforms.
Who you are:
- Degree (BSc or MSc) in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Bioprocessing, Biochemical or Biomedical engineering or equivalent
- Experience with testing, design of experiments, data analysis and processing, troubleshooting of prototypes
- Hands-on experience in a basic “wet” laboratory
- Strong communication and teaming skills
- Self-motivated and willing to accept temporary responsibilities outside of initial job description
- Creative problem solver
- Experience with mechanical design and analysis
- Knowledge of data analysis software
- Knowledge of acoustics and fluid dynamics is desirable
