Your role:

An exciting new opportunity has arisen to join our company as Head of Regulatory Management & Trade Compliance for Australia & New Zealand. Essentially with the team members, you monitor and provide regulatory management, trade compliance and quality management support and to undertake proper vigilance to ensure smooth execution of business activities from a regulatory and trade compliance perspective and that all activities are in compliance with applicable local and international laws, regulations and guidelines relevant to Life Science business transactions; including but not limited to Chemicals, animal by-products, medical device, biologicals, agricultural, food & pharma ingredients, etc. You local compliance program is implemented in accordance to corporate guidelines / requirements and applicable legal requirements. You'll serve as key resource person for the local entity in Regulatory, Compliance and Quality, thus it's important that you keep abreast of regulatory developments within or outside of the company as well as evolving best practices in regulatory and compliance control. Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, you update the management on the local regulatory and quality developments and activities. In general, you oversee the overall regulatory, quality and compliance budget, monitor the cost and effectiveness of activities to optimize resources and prioritize spending. Occasionally, you drive, manage and coordinate regulatory projects (alongside your team membes), including managing product registrations, supporting business regulatory needs. In addition, you facilitate and maintain excellent working relationship with government officials and customers, strengthen advocacy with local authorities and industry associations in terms of Merck interests, coordinate processes with internal functions for the commenting/drafting of regulatory guidelines and standards, cover the areas such as but not limited to of pharmaceutical & food, medical devices/IVD, equipment and biologics.


Who you are:

  • Degree in biomedical sciences (e.g. Medicine/ Pharmacy/ Veterinary/ Pharmaceutical Sciences/ Sciences) preferred; post-graduate in business or sciences a plus
  • Extensive knowledge in Trade Compliance, Quality and Regulatory requirements
  • Ten or more years of regulatory experience in related category
  • Systematic and discerning ability to handle priorities effectively.
  • Experience working in multi-national companies or service industry in MNC setting
  • Good IT knowledge and proficient in computer skills, including MS Office 
  • Ability to motivate team.
  • Good verbal and written report writing as well as presentation skills. 
  • Ability to work under stressful timeline and being flexible with time schedule.
