EMD Serono is going through an innovative data driven transformation. We are looking for an energetic individual with high business acumen to lead the development of advanced data driven techniques to solve complex problems within the healthcare business sector. As a resident subject matter expert in advanced statistical inference and machine learning techniques you have the opportunity to lead impactful data-driven solutions working together with business experts, data analysts, data scientists and data engineers within the Data Driven Innovation team. This position is ideal for someone who wants to apply their deep expertise in mathematics, programming and software engineering to crack hard to solve messy, real-world problems. The successful candidate will also be leading the efforts to operationalize novel data driven solutions and statistically measure its success.
•Translate business questions into clear and solvable data science problems
•Maximize value of existing data assets
•Develop data driven algorithms to solve complex problems within the healthcare business
•Apply rigorous statistical techniques to test hypotheses
•Extract actionable hidden patterns, clusters, commonalities and insights from large, complex datasets
•Engineer sound control groups to statistically test effect of business actions
•Operationalize data driven solutions using sound software engineering and cloud engineering practices
•Communicate data-driven insights to a broad range of business partners
Who you are:
•Ph.D in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or other highly quantitative field from a top school with outstanding grades and well cited peer-reviewed publications
•Proven track record of innovation in applied mathematics, data science and algorithms
•Proven track record of excellence in techniques such as high dimensional statistical modeling, hypothesis testing, time series analysis, causal inference, Bayesian inference, non-parametric multivariate regression, n-ary classification and clustering to solve real world problems (6+ years post Master's)
•Experience and ability to develop novel data driven solutions by writing efficient and clean code in Python, R, SQL or any other non-proprietary language (3+ years post Ph.D. preferably in the corporate sector)
•Experience or ability to operationalize data driven solutions using sound cloud engineering techniques (2+ years post PhD preferably in the corporate sector)
•You are highly driven, creative, highly focused and require minimal day-to-day guidance
•You are a quick learner and you'll figure out a way to get the job done no matter what
•You never report results before thorough validation
•You imagine yourself having fun doing all the above
