Your Role:  

At MilliporeSigma the Associate Scientist will evaluate products according to established protocols, provide technical support to others, and perform operations in support of the group and department.  

  • Safely perform operations, ensuring quality expectations are met throughout the process.  

  • Perform multi-disciplined, complex and established assays, primarily those requiring a higher level of technical skill and knowledge.   

  • Complete the volume of work required to achieve group/departmental goals and meet deadlines.  

  • Contribute to support functions of the lab (e.g., maintain equipment, prepare reagents, restock lab supplies, waste disposal).  

  • Communicate the status of operations and bring deviations to the attention of supervisor. 

  • Provide complete and accurate records consistent with quality guidelines.   

  • Ensure all applicable log books have been filled out completely as required by current procedures.  

  • Participate as needed in quality audits.  

  • In compliance with change control procedures, apply advanced scientific knowledge and expertience to troubleshoot problematic assays 

  • Identify and lead the implementation of process improvements.  

  • Provide technical guidance during root cause and customer complaint investigations as requested 

  • Take the necessary action to resolve any unsafe conditions.  

  • Write and modify procedures consistent with quality guidelines and review other procedures as requested. 

  • Review work performed by other scientists for completeness and accuracy prior to product release 

  • Train personnel and provide technical consultation for less experienced scientists as needed. 

  • May occasionally wear personal protective equipment such as a respirator or chemical protective clothing for extended periods. 

  • Lift and push up to 80 pounds. 

 

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering or related Life Science 

  • 3+ years of relevant lab experience  

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Advanced knowledge of enzyme kinetics theory and test methods 

  • Ability to manage Process Improvement projects 

  • Demonstrated ability to function on cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues 

  • Willingness and demonstrated ability to train less experienced scientists 

  • Ability to utilize Excel to perform complex scientific calculations  

  • Strong oral and written communication skills 

  • Knowledge of ISO quality standards 

  • Knowledge of industry standards relating to safe handling of hazardous chemicals
