At MilliporeSigma the Associate Scientist will evaluate products according to established protocols, provide technical support to others, and perform operations in support of the group and department.
Safely perform operations, ensuring quality expectations are met throughout the process.
Perform multi-disciplined, complex and established assays, primarily those requiring a higher level of technical skill and knowledge.
Complete the volume of work required to achieve group/departmental goals and meet deadlines.
Contribute to support functions of the lab (e.g., maintain equipment, prepare reagents, restock lab supplies, waste disposal).
Communicate the status of operations and bring deviations to the attention of supervisor.
Provide complete and accurate records consistent with quality guidelines.
Ensure all applicable log books have been filled out completely as required by current procedures.
Participate as needed in quality audits.
In compliance with change control procedures, apply advanced scientific knowledge and expertience to troubleshoot problematic assays
Identify and lead the implementation of process improvements.
Provide technical guidance during root cause and customer complaint investigations as requested
Take the necessary action to resolve any unsafe conditions.
Write and modify procedures consistent with quality guidelines and review other procedures as requested.
Review work performed by other scientists for completeness and accuracy prior to product release
Train personnel and provide technical consultation for less experienced scientists as needed.
May occasionally wear personal protective equipment such as a respirator or chemical protective clothing for extended periods.
Lift and push up to 80 pounds.
Who You Are:
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering or related Life Science
3+ years of relevant lab experience
Advanced knowledge of enzyme kinetics theory and test methods
Ability to manage Process Improvement projects
Demonstrated ability to function on cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues
Willingness and demonstrated ability to train less experienced scientists
Ability to utilize Excel to perform complex scientific calculations
Strong oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of ISO quality standards
Knowledge of industry standards relating to safe handling of hazardous chemicals
