Our Mission:

We are seeking a Communications Manager to join EMD Digital, Inc., an affiliate of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany. As an industry-leading science & technology company, we seek to solve the most challenging problems facing scientists today. Our team is working at the intersection of digital and science to develop a portfolio of digital products with the aim of speeding up the scientific process from discovery through commercialization.

 

Your Role: The Communications Manager for the digital organization will develop and execute communications strategies driving internal and external engagement for one of our new business areas. Reporting to the Head of Branding and Communications, this role will be responsible for understanding the business, driving the development of (marketing) communications strategies to achieve short-, mid- and long-term goals, while also ensuring comprehensive execution of tactics. Activities include plan development, messaging alignment, content creation, content curation, agency and program management, and media relations—ensuring high quality, consistent communication to our key internal and external stakeholders.

 Specific responsibilities include: Supporting the development of (marketing) communications strategies. Executing communications activities across internal and external stakeholder groups. Content development. Thought Leadership platform development

 

Who you are: Minimum Requirements; Bachelor’s Degree, 5-7 years working in a Communications / related role.  Excellent communication skills (both oral and written), demonstrated flexibility and collaborative working style. Comfortable in an international work environment and willing to work with multiple stakeholders in a global matrix environment. Excellent organizational and project management skills, and attention to detail. Knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn specific applications related to the role (Strong MS Word and MS PowerPoint is a must). Working knowledge of SharePoint / intranet is a plus. Position requires light travel up to 10% of the time, with potential for international travel.

 

Preferred Requirements; Bachelor’s Degree, in Communications, Marketing Communications or related field. Marketing experience a plus.  Experience in Life Science, Pharma or Biopharmaceutical Marketing preferred. 5-7 years working in a Communications / related role.  Excellent communication skills (both oral and written), demonstrated flexibility and collaborative working style. Comfortable in an international work environment and willing to work with multiple stakeholders in a global matrix environment. Excellent organizational and project management skills, and attention to detail.
