Your role:  

Residing in the Life Science Technology Management organization, the Americas MSAT group is part of a worldwide team of scientists and engineers that conducts biopharmaceutical process development, scale-up and manufacturing support activities, working closely with our customers and our colleagues across the globe to solve the toughest problems in Life Science. 

You will lead a team of engineers who provide process engineering guidance and support to end-users implementing our integrated systems and software for biopharmaceutical manufacturing, by employing sound engineering principles and fundamental industry concepts.  Your team’s responsibilities in this customer-facing role include design reviews for custom downstream purification systems, design qualification and fit-for-purpose testing of single-use assemblies in our M Lab, hands-on system and control software training and commissioning activity at the customer site and supporting pre-sales activities such as virtual demos. You will also be responsible for supporting end-users of our future portfolio of BioContinuum™ next-generation mAb bioprocessing systems and Bio4C™ Suite data analytics and connected plant software platforms in the aforementioned context.  You will work closely with our clients’ development and technical support teams in partnership with MilliporeSigma's Sales Managers to create customer value through structured team projects.   

Who you are:

You obtained a Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering or Biotechnology plus minimum 5-8 year’s related experience in Biopharma technical roles as described below. You possess a sound knowledge of engineering fundamentals coupled with a hands-on, practical sensibility of engineering design. You have a desire to lead novel BioContinuum™ DSP systems and Bio4C™ software platform implementation strategy. You communicate clearly and concisely to diverse audiences in both written and oral formats. You are capable of coaching your team members to develop technical knowledge of integrated systems and the underlying application areas.  You understand that quality and customer needs are paramount. 


Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Minimum B.Sc. in Engineering or Biotechnology.  Higher degree (MSc. or PhD.) preferred.  Relevant post-graduate work experience can substitute for lack of higher degree 
  • Experience in biopharma manufacturing environment with an aptitude for the digital plant employing software, automation and analytics solutions
  • Experience with biopharmaceutical processes and a clear understanding of application principles and scaling requirements as well as pharmaceutical quality by design (QbD)

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Functional knowledge of process controls, biopharma automation procedures and FDA data integrity guidelines 
  • Understanding of key plant connectivity and data analytics concepts of the digital plant 
  • Demonstrated experience with software control packages and capacity for mastery of new ones 
  • Capacity for leadership in projects with multiple workstreams and diverse stakeholder groups 
  • Ability to travel 10-20% with periods of 25%.
