This position will lead the Market Research efforts within the US Oncology Therapeutic Area. Working cross functionally and supporting all Oncology products, this position contributes to the setting of commercial and brand strategy by providing TA leadership, through use of data and analysis with:

  • a deep understanding of each specific market to make better business decisions regarding commercial and pipeline products
  • an understanding of current and future competitive landscapes
  • business recommendations which enable the team to capitalize on market opportunities and minimize risks for internal commercial strategy

This position will play an integral role in preparing the company for the launch of multiple Oncology products by enabling Senior Leadership to make optimal, data driven decisions based on customer insight generation. 

 

Your role:

Reporting to the Senior Director of Market Insights and Forecasting, you will oversee the design, development, and implementation of primary and secondary market research and competitive intelligence for the portfolio of Oncology products, include Bavencio for MCC, RCC and UC and new product preparations for Tepotinib and other oncology assets in development.

  • Provide ongoing strategic insights/direction to Oncology TA and broader commercial organization.  Act as a regular contributor to setting commercial and brand strategy, making actionable business recommendations grounded in data-derived insights.
  • Design and manage overall US Oncology Market Research plans (including launch, secondary data and primary market research plans) to address critical information needs of US Oncology Marketing.
  • Manage market research budget for the oncology products
  • Manage and conduct market research projects (primary and secondary/syndicated studies) and market assessments: formalize business and research objectives, determine appropriate methodology, develop questionnaire/discussion guides with the appropriate internal resources, oversee research implementation and analysis of results, present findings to key internal customers, draw conclusions/ implications and translate into business recommendations
  • Understand the available data sources for oncology epidemiology, claims/prescription data, competitive information, and any other oncology related data sources to support business decisions and lead insight generation and information synthesis
  • Enable marketing team to make informed, data driven decisions by providing customer viewpoints, business analyses and analytical support, particularly in areas where data is difficult to access and where a high level of analytical skill is required to synthesize complex information and develop conclusions, insights and recommendations to maximize opportunities and minimize risks.
  • Provide brand planning input for Bavencio and Tepotinib and future oncology products and identify and recommend launch tracking performance measures (KPIs)  
  • Provide clear, thorough and consistent analyses:  market trends, product performance, market opportunities, gap analyses, and potential risks to Senior Leadership and Brand Teams
  • Design primary market research studies to provide input for forecasts models and assumptions (Demand Studies, ATUs, etc) by understanding Oncology market dynamics, developing market insights (based on primary and secondary research) and delivering key assumptions/inputs.
  • Collaborate and partner with brand teams, working to imbed an external market point of view and influence internal teams and business decisions by building and defending cogent arguments and challenging assumptions and conventional wisdom with customer driven insights
  • Act as US MR lead in support of Global Strategic Insights initiatives that cover the US market for selected products.  Ensure global initiatives meet US market needs as well as legal/compliance regulations. Act as a key driver of alignment between Global Market research activities and US market data needs.
  • Manage and maintain external relationship with key vendors of market research, secondary data, software and consulting services
  • Able to build the US oncology market research team including potential future responsibility for a team of up to 2 market research direct reports
  • Responsible for competitive intelligence monitoring and working in close collaboration with Global CI team
  • Achieve goals via strong collaboration and partnerships with functional areas within the Business Excellence team as well as other functions – Marketing, Market Access, Global Strategic Insights, Finance and other functional areas 

 

Who you are:

  • BS/BBA with significant industry experience or MBA required
  • Fluency in English required
  • Minimum 7+ years pharmaceutical industry experience or market research experience (or biopharmaceutical strategy/ consulting experience)
  • Oncology market research experience preferred
  • Deep experience with and knowledge of market research methodologies for pre-launch and in line products required (e.g. positioning research, messaging research, creative campaign assessment, HCP and patient segmentation, ATUs, launch performance tracking, others)
  • Strong vendor management skills
  • Experience in pharmaceutical market research and analysis, competitive intelligence, or sales and market forecasting
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills (both written and oral) for interaction with C level and SVP/VP level management and the ability to present to small and large groups and deal with unexpected questions and challenges while presenting
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to balance several on-going projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work constructively within a team environment
  • Ability to work under pressure and with competing, changing and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to influence others in diplomatic manner with supporting information and logic
  • Broad business understanding and ability to work cross functionally / cross culturally
  • Strong ability to analyze unrelated and sometimes incomplete data sets to make significant decisions about the business and apply principles of logic and critical thinking to a wide range of complex business issues
  • Outstanding Excel and PowerPoint skills
