Then the Biomanufacturing Engineer Manager position could be your next role! The MSAT-Downstream group is part of a worldwide team of scientists and engineers who conduct and consult on biopharmaceutical process development, scale-up and manufacturing support activities, working closely with our Bioprocessing customers and our colleagues across the globe to solve the toughest problems in Life Science.
The Biomanufacturing Engineer Manager leads a team of up to 3 engineers with technical responsibilities focused on large systems engineering projects and single-use systems (SUS) implementation. Current scope includes filtration and chromatography systems, mixers and assemblies used in traditional batch biopharmaceutical production. In this role, you will use your process experience to review process descriptions, interpret process requirements, and ensure the design of the hardware or SUS will meet the operational, separation/mixing, cleaning and validation needs of the customer. You will also conduct end-user support activities for our process automation control platform, including hands-on and virtual training, and creation of automated process recipes based on customers’ requirements. Future scope for this role will include our portfolio of BioContinuum™ next-generation mAb bioprocessing systems and Bio4C™ Suite data analytics and connected plant software platforms. Based at our M Lab Collaboration Center in Burlington, MA, you will work closely with our customers’ development, engineering and manufacturing support teams throughout the Americas, in partnership with MilliporeSigma's team of regional Sales Managers.
Who you are:
You obtained a Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering or Biotechnology plus minimum 5-8 years’ related experience in biopharmaceutical technical roles as described below. You possess a sound knowledge of engineering fundamentals coupled with a hands-on, practical sensibility of engineering design. You communicate clearly and concisely to diverse audiences in both written and oral formats. You are capable of coaching your team members to develop technical knowledge of integrated systems and the underlying bioprocess applications. You understand that quality and customer needs are paramount.
- B.Sc. in Engineering or Biotechnology plus 5-8 years’ experience in biopharmaceutical technical roles.
- Experience in biopharma manufacturing, pilot, and/or lab scale environments, employing digital solutions for plant/lab automation and data analytics
- A clear understanding of application principles and scaling requirements for biopharmaceutical processes, as well as pharmaceutical quality by design (QbD) fundamentals
- Functional knowledge of process controls, biopharma automation procedures and FDA data integrity guidelines
- Understanding of key plant connectivity and data analytics concepts of the digital plant
- Demonstrated experience with software control packages
- Capacity for leadership in projects with multiple workstreams and diverse stakeholder groups
- Ability to travel 10-20% with periods of 25%.
