Associate Director of External Positioning, Healthcare Communications (all genders)

In this position, your primary responsibility will be to strengthen the reputation of our Healthcare business by developing a coherent, externally-facing Healthcare strategic narrative and by positioning the Sector through a number of strategic priority topics, including Sustainability (including global health, access to health, NTDs, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)), Purpose, Digital & Data, , and scientific and technological advancement that can make a lasting difference on patients’ lives. Further topics will include corporate reputation platforms and crisis/reputation communications.
You will be working cross functionally with a global team to build and execute a comprehensive communications strategy that focuses on our Healthcare business' external reputation and strategic priorities, with main stakeholders including external media, social influencers, and partners (e.g. World Economic Forum) as well as close alignment with internal stakeholders such as executives/leaders, Franchises/GHO/R&D, countries and Healthcare Communications.
This strategy will create one global narrative around our collective positioning and strategic priority efforts. The strategy will also leverage the full spectrum our company reputation initiatives to optimize total impact, ultimately creating opportunities for significant visibility such as thought leadership platforms, awards, media, social engagement, and employee excitement around our responsibility commitment.
Communications will include global as well as targeted market communications.
Specific areas of focus include communication around our Healthcare Strategy and Positioning, Sustainability/CSR/Global Health (including e.g.: NTDs, Access to Health, Embracing Carers, DEI, etc.), Science & technology innovation stories, crisis topics that impact reputation (excluding product), and corporate reputation materials and stakeholder management (presentations, annual reports, quarterly reports, and AGM meetings).
Who you are:
- Degree in communications, journalism, marketing or equivalent education
- Experience in corporate social responsibility preferred with established media and social influencer connections
- 10+ years communications experience in corporate/agency environment
- Substantial experience in healthcare communications, internal & external communications, traditional and digital channel management
- Experience in developing external media network and working relations
- Proven intercultural and global experience
- Able to manage and lead with indirect authority
- Demonstrated ability to interact with, counsel and influence senior executives
- Fluent written and verbal English and German skills
- 30% travel required
