The Role 

 

As Planner/Buyer you will report into the Planning Manager

 

Duties will include:

  • Translating Demand forecasts into effective Production and Purchase Plans taking forecasted requirements and Key Capacity constraints into account
  • Breakdown Tactical Production Plans into weekly production and Raw Material execution plans using multiple data inputs (DRP, capacity constraints, key Customer requirements and Supplier Capabilities.)
     
  • Providing Quarterly production plans by work centre to the plant operations and financial functions.
     
  • Place Purchase Orders with Suppliers in a timely and efficient manner to optimize inventory management while ensuring there are no production delays
  • Compare product deliveries with issued purchase orders, and accounts payable invoices and resolve discrepancies
  • Maintain strong working relationships with our vendors and develop knowledge of supplier’s process, understand constraints in meeting demand and opportunities that can deliver more efficient supply chain objectives. This experience will be gained through supplier visit and audits, supplier presentations and normal communications.
  • Identify potential gaps and agree mitigation with Production and Supply Network Planning
  • Ensure the accuracy of all Cork Planning and Buying Data
  • Prepare key reports and presentations to support the efficient functioning of the Production Planning Department in achieving KPI's (MPS Execution, On Time Delivery, Adherence to Promise Dates) and sustaining overall customer service and satisfaction.
  • Develop new knowledge by completing scenario analysis that drive continuous improvement and ultimately help create value
  • Interface with other Planners / Plant / Finance / Supply Review participants. Also interfacing with Sales / Product management / Customer Service / Expediting Groups.
  • Identify , communicate and agree mitigation against short, medium and long term Raw material Supply through Monthly Supply Reviews, Material Risk Programs and direct urgent communication as appropriate.

 

Who You Are
 

Successful candidates will have:

  • Previous experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Previous use of Oracle 11i (or SAP) desirable 
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, projects simultaneously
  • Strong analytical and system skills (incl Advanced Excel)
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Customer oriented outlook
  • A willingness to learn and take on new challenges

Education:

  • Level 8 Degree in Supply Chain/Business or related discipline
  • APICS certified would be advantageous
