The Sales Development Manager, Upstream Services will be the business lead for Contract Testing Services (CTS) BioReliance Upstream portfolio in Asia Pacific, including Cell Bank (CB), Viral Seed (VS) Manufacturing, Biorepository & related Characterization services. This role will be commercially responsible for the portfolio, includes building strategic relationships, opportunities generation, participating in key conferences, direct or facilitation of sales. It is also a key contact for the operations team and will act as a bridge between field sales and operations team.


Your Role

  • Evaluate areas for new business development, define targeted client lists and work with Sales team to follow up on identification of opportunities.
  • Works very closely on opportunities (coaching & mentoring) with the local Account Managers, acting as a trainer where appropriate, plus supporting program management activities (Project Managers and the clearance team).
  • Collaborate closely with the Order Management team in ensuring that proposals are fit for the application. The role will provide input and mentorship on scope and pricing for the proposals.
  • Deliver the KPI’s for the role which will include driving initiatives to drive growth from new & existing accounts.
  • Actively leads and achieves the quarterly and annual sales revenue targets associated with responsible Services.
  • Be the liaison to the Scientific community and Biotechnology industry.
  • Drive scientific and technical leadership within service offerings to differentiate BioReliance brand from competitors.
  • Take Ownership for monitoring, assessing and implementing the customer introduction of new technologies and scientific procedures.
  • Identify scientific opportunities and competitive threats to BioReliance services. Maintain up-to-date scientific and technological knowledge of developments and trends which could lead to new applications or markets.
  • Work closely with clients, to provide suitable technical and scientific expertise from within the organisation.
  • Proactively work with the relevant internal departments (Project Management, Order Management and others) to deliver on time services to clients.


Who You Are

  • Good scientific credentials, qualifications at least to first degree level in areas of the life sciences; MSc or PhD preferred.
  • Skilled in business development for services, rather than solely ‘product’ sales would be desirable.
  • A track record in consistent achievement of revenue targets.
  • An in-depth understanding of the pharmaceuticals and biotechnology sector and its dynamics
  • Experienced in coaching & mentoring others.
  • Experienced in developing and implementing business strategy.
  • Self-motivated with outstanding drive and energy, with a readiness to tackle tough challenges and see them through to conclusion.
  • Results oriented: able to capture business critical information on which to base judgement and decide priorities.
  • Has good business acumen: able to combine negotiating skills with significant scientific depth to identify and secure business opportunities.
  • Demonstrates outstanding communication ability, with the credibility and skills of persuasion that are required to present arguments in a diplomatic, clear, concise, and logical manner, and to influence others positively.
  • Customer centric mindset and possess a continuous improvement attitude.


This role can be based in APAC Region, preferably, Singapore, Korea or Japan.
