Title:  Quality Control Scientist

 

The Quality Control Scientist will test raw materials and finished goods, using ICP-MS as well as qualification and stability samples according to approved procedures or compendia (such as USP, EP, ACS) following site quality and safety standards. The specific job duties are:

 

  • Evaluate results against approved specifications, perform peer review of analytical data and release data from QC in a timely manner to meet scheduled release dates
  • Fulfill role of technical leader within the team
  • Perform analytical testing for release of raw materials and finished goods in a timely manner according to approved procedures and site quality standards
  • Perform peer review of analytical data, confirm compliance with prescribed method and conformance with approved specifications
  • Represent team as a subject matter expert to internal and external customers by electronic mail and during on-site audits
  • Fulfill role of technical leader within the team, coordinate test schedule, communicate test priorities, and lead investigations of out-of-specification or invalid results
  • Generate and update QC SOPs in support of Analytical testing and other related laboratory activities
  • Ensure test methods comply with appropriate compendia including but not limited to USP, EP, ACS, etc.
  • Ensure test methods are validated or verified as appropriate to the method
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts as agreed with Supervisor/Manager
  • Proficient with analytical instrumentation, such as spectroscopy (FTIR, UR-Vis), polarimetry, titration, and chromatography (HPLC, GC) as well as wet bench chemistry testing
  • Maintains records of test data per compliance to site quality testing and documentation requirements
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment and supplies according to approved procedures
  • Train other personnel on procedures
  • Contribute to a safe working environment by following corporate and departmental safety regulations

 

Who you are:

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or other Physical Science
  • 5+ years of experience in a GLP environment

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Strong attention to detail, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Advanced knowledge of chemistry and quality standards
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both in writing and verbally, specifically to internal and external customers
