Your Role:

The Production Planning Specialist II is responsible for planning activities within the El Camino Real & Whiptail sites in Carlsbad, CA, by ensuring a robust demand planning process is in place which allows work to be scheduled in line with client’s expectations while achieving optimum use of staff, equipment, and facilities, thereby maximizing capacity, productivity, and efficiency.

  • Maintain and improve the scheduling management process
  • Work on complex processes from beginning to end and all steps in detail in order to identify capacity constraints and drive process improvement effectively
  • Evaluate, test, recommend and implement changes that could improve service, project timelines, throughput efficiency, inventory levels, etc
  • Identify scheduling constraints and test various methods and strategies in order to reduce or eliminate those constraints
  • Monitor process turn-around times and escalate any capacity issues which may occur to the Senior Management team in a timely manner
  • Analyzes reports and participates in projects to eliminate backlogs, optimize timelines, and increase customer service.
  • Actively develop and build a collaborative team through regular communication and feedback, within the Business Development, Project Management, Materials Management, Quality
  • Assurance, QC, and Manufacturing functions
  • Interact with Managers, Supervisors, and staff to improve scheduling, capacity, and forecasting processes
  • Work with global planning teams as needed to ensure planning designs and requirements are coordinated and consistent
  • Supports with the implementation and ongoing maintenance of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system at Millipore, Carlsbad
  • Tests ERP layouts, to ensure the system is meeting business needs. Customizes and configures workflows, to facilitate ERP integration with other applications
  • Helps with the creation and maintenance of system work instructions or standard operation procedures (SOPs) for Supply Chain operations
  • Transfers and loads data as appropriate into the ERP system


Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Life Science (e.g., Biology, Microbiology, etc.) field
  • 2+ years of experience as a Planner/Scheduler/MRP or a Planner/Buyer/Supply Chain Specialist, within a Supply Chain department


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Planner/scheduler with experience working in a FDA regulated environment (e.g. Pharma, Medical Devices, Hi-Tech)
  • APICS, CSCP, or CPIM qualification
  • Experience with forecasting data to demand and capacity modeling
  • Experience with principles of lean processes (Lean Six Sigma trained or equivalent type of process analysis)
  • Experience with SAP and/or Microsoft Dynamic Great Plains MRP
  • Able to communicate clearly, establishing clear direction and setting objectives
  • Ability to effectively prioritize ensuring that deadlines are met at all times
  • Experience with process improvement techniques to improve workflow
  • Experience with computer software such as Microsoft packages, and ERP
  • Advanced Excel skills e.g. using formulas and pivot tables
  • Ability to complete documentation (both handwritten and electronic) neatly and accurately
  • SAP skills


Pay Range for this Position- $49,500 - $148,900

Our ranges incorporate all levels and career types available within this specific role, and are derived from relevant industry market data.  Should we decide to make an offer, we will consider several factors, including but not limited to your location, skills, experience, career level, and other job-related factors.  This role may offer the following benefits: medical, vision, and dental insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; a 401(k) matching program; paid time off; and paid holidays; among other employee benefits.
