Internship: Optimization of Cell Line Development – Genetic engineering
Location: Corsier-sur-Vevey
Duration: 6 months
Start date: January/February/March
Recombinant therapeutic proteins such as monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) are an important class of medicines serving patients most in need of novel therapies. The dominating production system for mAbs is a recombinant expression in mammalian cellular systems: a piece of DNA, coding for a mAb, is introduced into the genome of a host cell followed by an intense selection process to obtain a drug-producing cell line. Cell line development (CLD) is one of the most critical steps in the production of biological medical products. As a team dedicated to CLD innovation, we support the CLD activities by finding ways to identify better cell lines, with increased yield in a reduced timeframe.
We offer an internship opportunity for a motivated individual to join our Cell Technologies team. As an intern, you will be responsible for leading the genetic engineering of our host cell to create the next company's CLD platform. Practically, you will generate knock-out cell lines using the Zinc Finger technology and proceed to the screening of candidates to identify the successfully modified clones. Moreover, you will explore the potential of the subset of engineering candidates by designing and performing knock-down and over-expression experiments.
You will work closely with our team of experienced researchers to design and execute experiments, analyze data, and present findings to the wider team. We are looking for candidates with a strong interest in molecular/cellular biology and biotechnologies, excellent communication and organizational skills, and a passion for learning.
Requirements:
- Master/Engineer student in biology, molecular or cellular biology, biotechnology or related subject
- Basic/Beginner Programming Level: R or Python
- Language: French and/or English
What we offer: We are curious minds that come from a broad range of backgrounds, perspectives, and life experiences. We celebrate all dimensions of diversity and believe that it drives excellence and innovation, strengthening our ability to lead in science and technology. We are committed to creating access and opportunities for all to develop and grow at your own pace. Join us in building a culture of inclusion and belonging that impacts millions and empowers everyone to work their magic and champion human progress!
