Your role: As a Life Cycle Assessment Expert for our Life Science division, you will be working in a global network of experts within the Hazard Communication and Chemicals Regulations department. Our Life Science chemical portfolio consists of upwards of 100,000 unique neat chemicals and hundreds of thousands of mixtures. Your solid background in Life Cycle Assessment will allow you to quantify their environmental impact and thereby support the implementation of the Safe and Sustainable by Design framework for our diverse product portfolio.

In addition to the technical and academic requirements of this position, you must also be comfortable developing your expertise within an international team of experts with diverse backgrounds. This role requires well rounded communication and collaboration skills as many projects and initiatives will require the input and support from Regulatory and Computational Toxicology, Registration, Product Management, Production Sites and IT, in order to be successful.  In this role you will perform Life Cycle Assessments for chemicals and chemical products from our Life Science product portfolio and quantify the environmental impact of chemicals and thereby support in chemical alternative assessments. You will also implement the Safe and Sustainable by Design Framework and the EU Chemical Strategy for Sustainability together with other teams world-wide. This role includes also to summarize and communicate results comprehensively to internal teams, product management or production sites to support decision making.

 

Who you are:

  • Master’s in sustainability, chemistry or a related field and minimum 3 years relevant working experience
  • Solid background in the area of LCA with a focus on chemicals and chemical products
  • Well experienced with relevant tools (e.g. SimaPro, GaBi, OpenLCA, COMPASS) and databases (e.g. Ecoinvent)
  • Familiar with relevant frameworks and guidelines, e.g., ISO 14040 and 14044, green and sustainable chemistry and chemical alternative assessments
  • Proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously and strong data analysis expertise
  • Experience in SAP systems is an advantage as well as familiarity with the Globally Harmonized Classification System (GHS) or REACH
  • Very good communication and presentation skills and a good team-player
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken
  • Able to work comfortably in an dynamic, high throughput environment
