Your Role:

The Principal Scientist will lead a major R&D program focused on sustainable and high-performance dry (plasma) etching processes. You will provide technical leadership to a diverse, cross-functional team of chemists, material scientists, chemical engineers, and marketing experts to develop new and innovative chemical approaches to solving challenges faced in advanced dielectric and conductive film patterning, including reactive ion etching, atomic layer etching, and metal etching. In this role, you will maintain and enhance EMD Electronics’ position as an industry leader in sustainable, low-emission etch chemistries. This role has a strong customer-interaction component and will be responsible for leading technical reviews with customers and responding to their requests for new chemistry or applications. The selected candidate will be responsible for directly managing a team using state-of-the-art semiconductor processing equipment and new chemistry. They will work on applications development in an EMD Electronics’ clean room to lead the development of new etching processes, evaluate new etching chemistry, collect and analyze metrology data, oversee the operation, maintenance, and installation of process tools and equipment, and guide the broader team in developing new molecules. The role is also responsible for the team’s laboratory safety, utilizing safe work practices and fostering a culture of safety.
