Your Role:

The Strategic Business Development (SPD) Specialist is responsible for driving business growth business within their territory by providing customers with solutions to complex scientific, technical and regulatory requirements related to Contract Testing Services. The SBD Specialist drives value in opportunities for business growth by leveraging their experience and expertise in biological safety testing, viral clearance and product characterization. By acting as the field-based scientific voice of customer, the position holder identifies emerging technology trends, customer requirements and innovation opportunities that can be used to develop the business strategy.

 

The job holder performs duties independently whilst working in collaboration with the wider commercial organization and Technical Consultants, Marketing, R&D, Operations, and Quality Assurance. 

 

Scope of responsibility:

  • Acts as the technical, regulatory and scientific subject matter expert for Contract Testing Services customers within a given territory.

  • Partners with Sales to identify the most significant growth business opportunities and win new business by providing scientific and regulatory support to clients throughout the sales process.  

  • Achieves or exceeds yearly Orders target and MBOs across selected accounts that reflect strategic growth potential across the Contract Testing Services portfolio.

  • Acts as primary technical contact for specific growth accounts, providing input into relevant programs with ongoing requirements for scientific and regulatory support.

  • Trains and coaches account managers, increasing their confidence and ability to engage current and new clients.

  • Monitors industry trends to ensure th remains at the forefront of scientific advancements in the field of Contract Testing Services; identifies and shares innovation opportunities with R&D and Marketing; acts as the technical voice of customer to help develop business Strategy.

  • Maintains high level of professional expertise through familiarity with current scientific literature, competitor products, and attending scientific seminars and meetings.

  • May perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.

  • Complies with company health and safety regulations and procedures.

  • Travel to customer sites within US (Nationally)/ Europe, up to 50% of time. Some international travel might be required for this position.

 

Who you are:
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in a Life Sciences relevant scientific field.
  • Alternatively, B.Sc. in a Life Sciences relevant scientific field plus equivalent professional experience.
  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience, ideally in biologics development and/or manufacturing, quality and technical operations within a global, multi-site environment.

  • Relevant industry experience in a pharmaceutical, biologics and/or medical device environment is required. Experience within a regulated GMP environment is essential.

  • Client-facing experience with a demonstrated ability to influence teams and individuals is required.

  • Willingness to travel to customer sites within US (Nationally)/ Europe, up to 50% of time. Some international travel might be required for this position.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills in English; an additional European language preferred but not required.

  • Strong interpersonal and client-facing skills: effective at communicating with clients and establishing strong working relationships.

  • Ability to work flexible hours on occasion to meet business requirements.
