Job Description for EH&S Manager

Location: Banwol Site

Position: Site EH&S Manager

Reports To: Banwol Site Director

 

Your Role:

 

SUMMARY

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced EH&S Manager to lead our “EH&S Level Up Initiatives” at the Banwol site. This critical role plays a key part in achieving zero accidents and ensuring regulatory compliance. You will develop and implement EH&S permitting strategies to support new business grow plans and projects. Additionally, you will identify emerging environmental regulations and provide ongoing support to operating facilities.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Safety Leadership: Lead a culture of safety at the Banwol site, striving for zero accidents and fostering employee well-being.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Oversee all environmental and health & safety regulatory requirements for the Banwol site. Develop and maintain robust compliance processes to ensure adherence to local, national, and international regulations.
  • Permitting Strategy: Develop and implement EH&S permitting strategies to support new business ventures and project development. Proactively identify and assess emerging legislative and regulatory issues that can impact permitting and compliance.
  • Environmental Sustainability: Manage both mandatory and voluntary environmental reporting, including internal company standards and external sustainability metrics.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive improvements in the Industrial Hygiene (IH) program to enhance employee health within operating plants and identify potential hazards in new projects.
  • Collaboration: Maintain strong working relationships with Banwol site leadership, project teams, and functional leads across SQ-E Korea, US, and Germany.

 

DETAILED PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Report to the Site Director and actively participate as a member of Korea EH&S community.
  • Conduct regular inspections of operational departments and project sites to proactively prevent accidents and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Partner with the Site EHS Manager to manage permits and ensure ongoing adherence to all relevant regulations.
  • Track and report on the achievement of the Banwol site's key EH&S performance indicators (KPIs).
  •  Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for all handled chemicals and provide support for safety training as needed.
  • Develop and deliver impactful safety training programs to further enhance employee safety awareness.
  • Participate in accident investigation teams and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  •  Support each team's risk assessment activities and monitor progress towards achieving goals.
  • Prepare and manage legal reporting documents for submission to government agencies.
  • Conduct inspections of environmental and waste management facilities, providing guidance for proper management.
  • Contribute to the development of the annual EH&S training plan and provide training materials aligned with global EH&S requirements and local regulations.

 

Who you are:

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCES:

  • Proven track record in DG safety management: The candidate should have demonstrable experience in developing and implementing safe work practices for all stages of DG handling, including receiving, storage, synthesis, purification, warehousing, packaging, and shipping.
  • Strong understanding of DG classifications and regulations: Experience with classifying DG materials according to various regulations like IATA Dangerous Goods Regulation.
  • Experience with conducting DG audits and inspections: Regularly evaluating and improving safety protocols is essential. Look for a candidate with experience in conducting thorough DG safety audits and inspections to identify and address potential risks.
  • Experience with emergency response procedures for DG incidents: In case of an accident, a well-rehearsed emergency response plan is vital. Look for a candidate who has experience developing and implementing emergency response procedures for DG incidents, including spill clean-up, fire response, and evacuation procedures.
  • Proficiency in DG documentation: Accurate and complete documentation is essential for safe transportation and regulatory compliance. The candidate should be familiar with the necessary documentation for each stage of the DG lifecycle, including shipping manifests, safety data sheets (SDS), and waste disposal procedures.
