RonaCare® Cyclopeptide-5 is the first homodetic cyclic peptide for cosmetic applications. The active ingredient consists of a small number of amino acids mimicking the optimal key to unlock communication between cells and into the cells. This smart design ensures a high selectivity for its biological target – integrins at the RGD binding site. Integrins are those unique proteins which take care of the skin’s communication processes.
In vitro tests show that Cyclopeptide-5 inhibits harmful degradation enzymes of extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins like collagenase and elastase. On the other hand, it stimulates the stability of the extracellular matrix by activating fibulin, laminin, and collagen. Ex vivo and in vivo testing confirms that RonaCare® Cyclopeptide-5 supports greater skin elasticity and reduces the appearance of wrinkles after only a short period of use. The result is a more youthful, smoother appearance of the skin.
