Ada Yonath

Ada Yonath is an Israeli crystallographer renowned for her pioneering work on ribosome structures. She is the incumbent director of the Helen and Milton A. Kimmelman Center for Biomolecular Structure and Assembly of the Weizmann Institute of Science. Ada’s research into the structure and function of the ribosome was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2009 (shared with Venkatraman Ramakrishnan and Thomas A. Peter Doherty

Peter Doherty is Australian immunologist and pathologist who, with Rolf Zinkernagel of Switzerland, received the Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine in 1996 for their discovery of how the body’s immune system distinguishes virus-infected cells from normal cells. After leading a research group at the Wistar Institute, Philadelphia, and teaching at the University of Pennsylvania, Peter headed the department of experimental pathology at the John Curtin School of Medical Research in Canberra and served as chairman of the department of immunology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Tobias Erb

Tobias Erb is a Scientific Member of the Max Planck Society and Director at the Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology in Marburg, Germany. His research interests include the microbial carbon cycle, specifically the biochemistry and synthetic biology of carbon dioxide conversion – and <a href="https://www.emdgroup.com/en/news/future-insight-prize-2022-13-07-2022.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">he’s also a winner of our Future Insight Prize for Carbon Dioxide Fixation and Conversion</a>. Tobias’s studies focus on the discovery, function, and design of novel CO2 converting enzymes from bacteria, algae, and plants – and their use in artificial photosynthesis.
