After seeing how hard it is to transfer physical medical records without them being lost, stolen, or arriving too late, a team from Accra, Ghana is developing a mobile, AI-powered electronic medical records system for use by hospitals and healthcare providers in developing countries. As well as storing patient records in the cloud, making access reliable and easy, even from remote locations, PeachMR uses AI to analyse the patient data and predict the onset of certain diseases and suggest treatment options.

Peach Technologies started life at the Our Health Hack Hackathon in Accra on 28th August 2016.

The Accra Hackathon focussed on finding digital solutions to 4 main challenges in Healthcare:

  1. Maternal & Reproductive Health
  2. Access to Healthcare
  3. Non-Communicable Disease
  4. Infectious Disease

After 36 hours of non-stop work, the team, consisting of Cobby Amoah (now CEO) and engineers Oteng Kwame Appiah Nti and Qwame Akpalu, presented Peach Technologies, their cloud-based electronic records system, scooping second place and 6 months of incubation at the our Entrepreneurial Development Space, located at Impact Hub Accra.

Now at the end of their incubation period, the team at Peach Technologies, joined by UX/UI designer Charles Kunene, have built on the prototype that they demoed at the hackathon and have the first generation of their platform built. They have signed a contract with the Ghana Health Services for two districts, and they are still testing and refining the platform, releasing new versions every quarter. Peach Technologies are taking up residence at our program in Nairobi for three months from the 6th March 2017, with the aim of developing the platform further and expanding beyond West Africa.
