Normally at pitching events, we’re sat in the audience, watching our startups pitch their ideas and innovations to hungry investors, having coached them for weeks. But on 30th May, the tables turned. We had the opportunity to pitch the our Accelerator to startups at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy’s first StartUp Night! for the healthcare economy.
Hong Wa Poon, Manager of the Accelerator Programme, stepped up to the plate to speak at the event in Berlin about the opportunities for startups at the Accelerator. Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Brigitte Zypries opened the event by underlining how much startups and established players can offer each other if they collaborate, and kicked off the rounds of pitching. There were three pitch rounds in total, one each for online therapy, medicines and health platforms. As one of the leading Accelerators in health tech, we spoke in the online therapy group, sharing the stage with the impressive teams from Kaia Health Software GmbH, Retro Brain, M-Sense and HygNova Medical. The StartUp Night! for the healthcare industry is the latest addition to the Ministry’s successful series of startup matching events, which aim to connect startups with established businesses and promote digital innovation in Germany. Previous events have covered topics as wide-ranging as the aerospace industry and “From social thinking to social entrepreneurship”. As one of the largest industries in Germany, the healthcare sector was selected as the most recent addition to the series. After the pitches, there was also an opportunity to exchange experiences with healthcare startups, and a large networking event, where startups were able to find out more about how the German government supports startups.
Stay tuned for the next Start-Up Night! event!
