We are very happy to announce the beginning of our Accelerator’s sixth round in Darmstadt! Ten startups spanning the industries of healthcare, life science, performance materials, and other related business fields are joining the Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany Accelerator in Darmstadt.

The startups come from all around the world and will be among the first tenants of our newly built Innovation Center. During the next three months, the selected teams will continue to develop their business models and projects. The startups will receive professional support and tailored mentoring sessions from a network of over 50,000 experts hailing from 66 countries. Startups can also receive funding of up to €50,000 to help their businesses grow. Additionally, the startups will be able to develop the first prototypes of their technological innovations and are provided with unique networking and collaborating opportunities both within Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany and externally.

The Spring 2018 selection process was very challenging as our Accelerator received over 400 applications from startups all around the world. We can see that digitalization is progressing into nearly every sector of the health and science scene: from unmanned aircraft systems, and easily operated state-of-the-art computational chemistry to machine learning techniques, and technological aids for fruit and vegetable growers – the selected startups are very diverse and active in a wide range of fields. We are also proud to announce that a femtech startup will be joining the Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany Accelerator for the first time in our program’s history. The femtech industry is a rapidly growing field in the healthcare sector and enjoys growing popularity among investors and businesses.

We are delighted to welcome the new teams and are excited for the Demo Days to see how they evolve over the next few months!
