We are happy to announce an exciting milestone for our Accelerator location Nairobi: Our eHealth Meetup series in Africa had its first birthday this spring. Time flies – we ran our 10th meetup in Nairobi, our 3rd in Accra, our inaugural meetup in Tunis and had our 2nd in Johannesburg. We launched our monthly eHealth Meetups back in April 2016 in Nairobi to offer a platform for exchange on the subject of innovations in the digital health sector to all the various stakeholders, our colleagues, entrepreneurs, other companies as well as representatives of authorities and international organizations.
The aim behind the meetups is to build an ecosystem around healthcare innovations across Africa, offering a platform for information and knowledge exchange as well as fostering partnerships. Our meetups have evolved around the topic “Scaling of eHealth Innovations” with specific sub-topic ranging from “The Role of Support Networks in East Africa, the Role of Data in Building Scalable Businesses in Western Africa and The Role of Public Private Partnerships”. Through the monthly meetups Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany has positioned itself as an innovative and digital-oriented company and built a network of over 500 professionals and innovators within the digital health sector on the African continent.
We’re very excited to see our eHealth Meetups growing on a continental level and hope you will get the chance to have a look sometime! Together the pan-African eHealth community across the continent will continue to grow.
