Perspective

The close connection between chemistry in the lab and direct feedback from application has fascinated me over the years. Drawing structure-property relationships and translating these into the next chemical structure with improved performance is what drives me in science. This already started during my PhD in organic photovoltaics and continued at Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, while working in OLED. Leading the 'Organic Polymers Team' in our central research unit, I now get to broaden my horizon from conjugated charge transport polymers to a much wider field of polymer science. The best part about my current position is to work with a highly motivated, creative team, and to continuously adapt and increase our competence in the field of polymers together. Our vision is to connect the dots between the different business units and accelerate the development of the next generation of high-tech polymer materials by contributing our know-how.
