Our company supports healthcare workers fighting Covid-19 in Cameroon

Overview
Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, donates 50.000 masks and more than 17.000 swabs for Covid-19 testing to hospitals in Cameroon.
Covid-19 pandemic hits African countries hard as those countries have already a high burden of other infectious diseases that are far from being under control. That is why we support healthcare workers fighting at the forefront against the Covid-19 virus. We also confirm our commitment to serve most vulnerable population in low-and middle-income countries to get access to affordable health solutions.
Recently, air freight boxes with 50.000 FFP2 type masks and more than 17.000 swabs left our Headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany, to travel to Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroon.
The donation of personal protective equipment was triggered by a collaboration between Global Health Institute, University of Geneva and the District Hospital of Akonolinga, Cameroon. The Swiss Embassy in Cameroon together with the Ministry of Health played a pivotal role in the import process for 10 hospitals receiving the necessary equipment.
