The World Health Assembly (WHA) Schistosomiasis luncheon showcasing our companies increasing engagement in the fight against schistosomiasis

The WHA Schistosomiasis luncheon, is an event showcasing our continuous commitment in the fight against schistosomiasis. It brings together Ministers of Health from African countries, ambassadors and high-level representatives from the Global Health community as well as key players from the field of Neglected Tropical Diseases.

As per previous years, this event has been the occasion for providing an update on the Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany’s programs that are implemented towards contributing to the control and elimination of schistosomiasis. Amongst other initiatives, the Global Health Institute has been featured during the opening speech of Prof. Dr. Stangenberg-Haverkamp (Chairman of the Executive Board and Family Board of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany) for its comprehensive research and development project portfolio aiming at delivering innovative and integrated health solutions: new/improved treatments, better diagnostics, tools for vector control and health system strengthening approaches.

Furthermore, the Global Health Institute booth created the additional opportunity for updating on the ongoing programs on infectious diseases as well as for fostering the dialogues with key stakeholders for ongoing and/or new collaborations, and with funders, including with the representative from the Global Health Innovative Technology (GHIT) Fund.
