Sven is responsible for Project Management within the Global Health Institute, focusing his activities on one of the flagship programs for treatment against malaria.
Sven joined Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, in 2009 as part of the TIP Immunology in the Innovation Cluster Osteoarthritis as Principal Scientist. He continued his career at our company as Head of Exploratory Osteoarthritis and managed several multi-functional R&D projects. In 2020, he became a member of the Strategic Innovation team as Senior Innovation Manager. The team was responsible for external scientific collaborations, future game changers and driving the innovation strategy in Healthcare but also cross sector. Prior to joining Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, he was from 2006 to 2009 at Sanofi-Aventis as Head of an in vivo pharmacology laboratory in the field of Osteoarthritis.
Sven holds a Ph.D. in neurobiology from the University of Bremen. Additionally, he studied Philosophy and Sociology at the University of Hannover.
