We are delighted to announce the induction of 12 new startups into the Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany Accelerator – the 8th intake at the Innovation Center. Carefully selected from 503 applicants across 65 countries, these young science and technology companies cover topics within our three business sectors and our innovation fields Liquid Biopsy and Clean Meat. In fact, for the very first time, two startups from the latter category were selected. Over the next three months, each team will receive individual support and coaching from experts within our company´s network, as well as up to €50,000 in funding and the opportunity to join our China Innovation Hub in Shanghai for an extension of the program.
The Accelerator of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany was designed to establish collaborations and partnerships between startups and our company. These collaborations will create a win-win situation for both parties, enabling experienced employees to co-create, conduct pilot projects and run proof of concepts with highly talented science and technology entrepreneurs – all supported by a highly flexible working environment and the Accelerator team.
Numerous internal experts with a variety of specialisms were involved in the strategic selection of the 12 startups with the highest potential for collaboration. Collaborating with startups increase our company´s ability to disrupt industry sectors and become a first mover in different trending areas that can fulfill our vision of enhancing the human experience and creating more joyful and sustainable ways to live. After all, at Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany we are curious minds dedicated to human progress!
