Rationale
The coronavirus crisis has clearly shown that a global pathogen surveillance and monitoring system is urgently required to early detect the emergence of a new infectious agent with pandemic potential. Monitoring could be done in planes or public places e.g. via whole environmental genome sequencing and in-silico analysis.
